Son aquellas preguntas cortas, que se usan para pedir a la otra persona que nos confirme algo que se estamos afirmando
Van después de una afirmación y mas o menos podríamos decir que son equivalentes de las siguientes palabras en español:
-no es cierto? -si? –no? Verdad que si?

Ejemplos

En futuro simple:

-we will work next year. - won't we?.
-Trabajaremos el sigiuente año -no?

- she won't go with them. -will she?.
-Ella no ira con ellos - si?*

Futuro continuo:
-you will be there at 3:00 o'clock pm. -)won't be?.
-Tu estaras aqui a las 3:00 pm en punto - no es cierto?

-she won't be singing at the theater. -will she?.
-Ella no estara cantando en el teatro - verdad?

Pasado simple:

-she went to a friend's house. - didn't she?.
-Ella fue a casa de un amigo -si?

-we didn't go to her school yesterday. - did we?.
-Nosotros no fuimos a su escuela ayer -no?

Pasado progresivo:

-I was doing my homework. -wasn't I?.
-Estuve haciendo mi tarea -no?

-you weren't crying all night because she left you. -were you?.
-No estabas llorando toda la noche porque ell ate dejo -verdad?

*te preguntaras porque algo como “will she?”. Significa “”si?”” o porque “won't we?.” Significaría “no?” a pesar de que si lo traducimos resulta en otras palabras que no tienen tanto sentido, no le des mas vueltas, pues no queda otra que aceptarlo y memorizarlo al principio, luego con un poco de practica veras que tiene sentido.

Estoy en la lista de los que aprobaron el examen, ¿no?

Ir a Boston es la mejor opción, ¿no?

•I was at the office when Sarah got there, wasn't I?
Yo estaba en la oficina cuando Sarah llegó, ¿no?

•Pearl and Nick aren't in position to buy such an expensive house,are they?
Pearl y Nick no están en condiciones de comprar una casa tan costosa, ¿no?

•It was a great day to go fishing, wasn't it?
Fue un buen día para ir a pescar, ¿no?

•We were having a good time at the party, weren't we?
La estábamos pasando bien en la fiesta, ¿no?

•Your friends weren't expecting your call, were they?

•The Lord of the Rings has been Tolkien's best book, hasn't it?

•Edith hasn't attended classes lately, has she?
Edith no ha asistido a clase últimamente, ¿no?

•Helen hadn't answered all the questions on the test, had she?
Helen no había respondido todas las preguntas en la prueba, ¿no?

•We had seen that woman in the shop, hadn't we?
Habíamos visto a esa mujer en el negocio, ¿no?

•Martin hadn't finished painting the wall, had he?
Martin no había terminado de pintar la pared, ¿no?

•The doctors hadn't seen a case like that before, had they?

Can, Can't, Could, Couldn't

•This road can be dangerous to take at night, can't it?
Puede ser peligroso tomar esta ruta de noche, ¿no?

•You can't play the guitar, can you?
No sabes tocar la guitarra, ¿no?

•Angela and Jack can call your lawyer if they are in trouble, can't they?
Angela y Jack pueden llamar a tu abogado si están en problemas, ¿no?

•It can't be true that Ben has just arrived, can it?
No puede ser cierto que Ben acabe de llegar, ¿no?

•You could ask Susan what she thinks about your case, couldn't you?
Podrías preguntarle a Susan lo que piensa acerca de tu caso, ¿no?
